Compare Health Insurance is an independent health insurance comparison website created to help users find the best possible health insurance cover quotes for their circumstances. We work with one of the largest Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) authorised brokers who search and compare medical insurance policies from the leading insurance providers for the best deals available for you.

Our service is entirely free to use and you are under no obligation to accept any of the quotes you may receive.

Can you provide cover for chronic conditions?

Chronic conditions are severe, long-term illnesses which often do not have a cure. This means some insurance providers may only be able to cover tests and initial treatments for chronic conditions – dependent on circumstances.

Do you provide cover for pre-existing conditions?

A pre-existing condition is an injury or illness which existed before you took out a health insurance policy. Whether you can get cover for this type of condition is dependent on what the condition is and its severity.

Cancer cover is an option offered by many different health insurance providers. Usually, it covers the cost of support, tests, drugs and treatments if a policyholder was ever to be diagnosed with cancer.

What are the benefits of having private health insurance?

In the UK we have the NHS, which entitles citizens to free health cover. Private health insurance covers you in addition to this. With private health insurance you will still need to use the NHS for emergency cover, but when it comes to treatments and diagnosis, you will have the choice to be treated privately.

Do premiums increase, if I seek treatments?

In the majority of cases, claiming your health insurance will not increase your premiums. A few providers have ‘no claim discounts’ – these work in a similar way to car insurance discounts – you receive an overall discount if you have not made a claim on your health insurance for a period of set time.

How can I cancel my policy?

Most policies have a ‘cooling offer period’ (usually 14 days from when cover begins) which entitles you to refund on your chosen policy (excluding a discount for the time you were covered). A refund may also be given for the time you have not yet been covered, if you cancel your policy before it comes to an end or before your renewal date. In some cases, an administration charge may apply.
